Steroid Abuse

Testosterone Abuse Prevents Treatment for Us!
The absurd situation of Hypogonadism, a widespread, undetected, untreated, debilitating condition and the global abuse of its therapies.
- There is no sense in allowing Testosterone therapies to be widely abused to the ultimate cost to health care providers when health fails, as it inevitably will.
- There is absolutely no sense in leaving a debilitating condition untreated, when treatment demonstrates large savings in annual health costs of long-term chronic disease and increased overall health amongst patients.
- Moreover, there seems little sense in allowing a condition to develop to the point where over 30% of males suffer from it at or about age sixty.
- Role models have an important part to play in teen influences, but so does the law. If a child is offered an illegal drug, such as Cannabis, Amphetamine, Ecstasy, Cocaine or Heroin, there is an automatic consideration of legal consequence. If, however, the child is offered Testosterone or another steroid, which comes without apparent penalty to the user, seduction by tales of its “benefits” may well succeed.Criminalising the possession of anabolic steroids is but one step in the battle against steroid abuse.
- The “hidden” problem with testosterone abuse is the use of “pre-cursors” which stimulate the sex organs to produce more testosterone. Sold “over the counter”, these drugs are being used to put the Testosterone production machine into overdrive, with similar health risks. Androstenedione, HGH, HCG and other “stimulating” hormones are widely available without prescription on the Internet, yet it seems society is tolerant of their abuse, as are the authorities.
- In the USA businesses proliferate with the legend “Optimise your Hormones”, where patients are encouraged to go for peak appearance, muscle, body shape and hormone system by using a variety of drugs to reach that level.
- A formal complaint was lodged with the UK authorities in 2017 about such activity by a UK based company. The negative response received, demonstrated the complacency with which the authorities view the matter. As a result more clinics in the UK are springing up to somehow legitimise such narcissism amid complete disregard for the natural body’s function.
Opinion
The competitive pursuit of “physical perfection” is often corrupted by steroid abuse. It seems no sport is exempt from Testosterone abuse by some of its “stars”. Now it is becoming mainstream as well. This begs the question as to whether we should encourage artificial changing of our bodies to suit our vanity, by playing with drugs central to the reproduction of children and often at its cost.
