This site is dedicated to the awareness and treatment of Hypogonadism in today’s society. The inspiration required to complete the project undertaken here is being drawn from two very distinguished gentlemen, with whom I had close relationships and who left us all too soon. They are Dr Theodore (Theo) Chalmers, and Dr MJ (Jo) Colston. Their influences have ensured a search for excellence and the maintenance of integrity, in the production of this website.
Theo was my father in law. He was also the Dean, (and creator),of the Medical School at St John’s College Cambridge, as well as consulting in Addenbrookes Hopsital. Theo died just three weeks after retiring. His humility, brilliant mind and sense of duty had resulted in some wonderful advances in medicine in the laboratory, hospital and education alike, yet his modesty remained undimmed to the end. His contribution to society was immense, yet he never once yielded to the temptation of private medicine, preferring as he put it, to make sure his God given gifts were shared with everyone. He is not forgotten.
“The Doctor” as Jo was known to his cricketing friends of Not the MCC in the UK, was a very similar man to Theo. He was my opening partner for three years and wicket keeper to my opening bowling at the same time. Without saying anything, we formed a bond.
I found the same humility, dedication and simplicity in Jo as I’d done with Theo. I didn’t realise, nor did any of us in the team, just what Jo was contributing to world health issues. His work in Leprosy has benefitted millions world wide.
We were stunned early in 2003 with the news of Jo’s sudden heart attack at the age of fifty-five. He is sorely missed on the cricket field by his teammates and the world of medicine has lost a great man.
