This site originates from the removal of my testicles in 1988 and my subsequent involvement in the Testicular Cancer Resource Center.
I am a qualified Microsoft Systems engineer, with other qualifications in mechanical engineering.I have no medical training whatsoever.
This site has been constructed and as a result of my research, carried out initially during the first half of 2003. It has been and continues to be, funded by myself.
I have been the Testicular Cancer Resource Centre’s Associate Editor responsible for hormones since 1997. Since then, my time has been gradually consumed, by assisting qualifying patients to obtain Testosterone supplements, first via the email support group TCNET and now since the inception of Social Media, it’s become a world wide service.
I scanned each email for signs of possible hormone issues and advised accordingly. Often, mine was the lone voice leading to diagnosis of Hypogonadism, sometimes resulting in the cessation of anti-depressants, shortly after therapy is introduced.
Since those early days guidelines have been introduced across the world to help doctors treat qualifying patients. The first, issued by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists in 2002 sparked the creation of this website.
It soon became obvious they are an invaluable resource for patients too, because often the doctor has not been educated in male hormones and is mystified. All relevant guidelines known about are linked under the Guidelines tab.
In June 2003, this website was born and soon attracted the attention of the Wellcome Institute who wrote in 2005 requesting permission to archive the site for research.
Since then the site has become well known, even more so since the introduction of the forum, a contemporaneous record of life with a male hormone problem.
